Basic Gear Checklist

Stuck for what to bring along with you on your next walk??

There is nothing quite worse than becoming caught out unexpected & unprepared in the Tasmanian wilderness. I've experienced it many times myself first hand, and in truth I guess it is a gradual 'learning from your own mistakes' kind of philosophy. Every year there are numerous preventable deaths, injuries & emergency rescues, mainly caused in consequence from a lack of planning, incorrect equipment, and general disrespect for our infamous changeable weather patterns. We should all be accountable for our own decisions in life, so it is up to the individual to be prepared.

Here, I've decided to whip together a shortlist of basic gear that I take on most of my own outings. It is in no way the absolute end all of what you should take; merely just a general idea for those looking into what equipment they may need to consider, or as a final skim over before they head bush. There is no right or wrong way to do things, one can only advise & hope it helps in some kind of unforeseeable manner.
